
Professor Beata Banaszewska has been dealing with problems in reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology for over 20 years. Professor Beata Banaszewska gained professional and scientific experience at the Reproductive Medicine Clinic from 1995 to 1999, and then at the Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology Clinic at the Medical University of Poznań from 1993 to 2022. The main scientific activity of Prof. Beata Banaszewska’s main research focuses on infertility and gynaecological endocrinology, with a particular focus on polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She studies the prevalence of insulin resistance and hyperinsulinaemia in women with PCOS and the treatment of obesity in women of reproductive age and menopause.
Professional achievements:
– a series of studies conducted over 20 years on the use of various pharmacological treatments in women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
– the use of metformin in women with PCOS, which is now the recognised standard of treatment for this syndrome.
– the use of statins to reduce hyperandrogenism in women with PCOS
– use of resveratrol to reduce testosterone and insulin resistance in women with PCOS
– study of the role of microbiota in the pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome.
– study of psychoemotional disorders (depression, anxiety) in women with PCOS
– use of synbiotics in women with PCOS and obesity to improve endocrine parameters and reduce body weight
– participation in the introduction of endoscopic techniques at the Clinical Hospital at 33 Polna Street in Poznań
– participation in the creation of the Centre of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Infertility Treatment
